Padang Sambian Seventh-Day Adventist Church
A Brief Historical Overview of Padang Sambian SDA Church by elder Binsar Siahaan
In 2023, Padang Sambian was officially inaugurated as the Padang Sambian Sabbath School Branch by the KJKT organization, due to the increasing number of church members from the Denpasar Mother Church. Worship services were held in a rented shop-house building located on Jl. Tangkuban Perahu, Denpasar.
Over time, the number of guests attending the branch Sabbath School continued to grow, including visitors from outside the island of Bali. Around June 2024, the elders and pioneers of the branch Sabbath School—Mr. Salmon Seleky, Mr. I Wayan Sukayudha, Mr. Melkianus Pilo Here, Mr. Doni Suyitno, and others—met and spoke with the family of Mr. B. Siahaan and Mrs. Corry Tobing, who were also regular guests of the Padang Sambian Branch Sabbath School. During this meeting, the elders shared their thoughts and future plans regarding the continued journey of the Padang Sambian congregation.
The rented building could no longer be extended, the number of members had already met the requirements to be organized as a church, and the funds to rent another place were very limited. Mr. B. Siahaan responded to the pioneers by asking whether they were truly serious and fully committed to serving in God’s work and willing to work hard to realize the construction of a church building for the Lord. They all responded that they were ready to cooperate and serve wholeheartedly.
Mr. B. Siahaan and his wife, who were born and raised in an Adventist family, were deeply moved by the response of the church pioneers. Realizing that all things can only happen by God’s will, the family spent several nights in special prayer, asking for God’s blessing upon their desire to provide a place and a building for worship. As time went on, special prayers were continually offered by every member of the Padang Sambian Branch Sabbath School, both individually and collectively.
In July 2024, a location for the church building was selected at Jl. Lange II No. 4–5, West Denpasar, and construction began in August 2024. On November 30, 2024, the branch Sabbath School, with a membership of 53 people, was officially organized into the GMAHK Padang Sambian Church, Denpasar – Bali.
In its first year of ministry, as of November 2025, the Padang Sambian Church had baptized 48 individuals, and the number of regular Sabbath School attendees increased by 19 people. The congregation has also secured leased land for 15 years, covering an area of 220 square meters, ready for the construction of a church building.
Recognizing that every talent God grants can become a blessing when surrendered to Him, Mr. Siahaan and his wife—whom God has endowed with competencies as a lecturer in Business Economics and as a trainer for the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer profession—have, adjacent to the planned church building site, developed a productive activity house on a 440-square-meter area.
Through this facility, all church members and other parties who possess competencies, skills, human resources, or other assets are invited, if willing, to collaborate in productive and beneficial activities, serving as a platform to create business opportunities and employment. The output from these activities will support church construction and ministry.
At present, this productive activity house is being used as the place of worship for the GMAHK Padang Sambian congregation. May every plan that has been made proceed well, and above all, may God’s will be done. God bless.
